LCD or Plasma?  Plasma wins for picture quality, period!!!

LCD is better for very bright viewing areas, like watching TV in the daytime with big windows in the room.

What about LED?  LED is LCD!  It is just the type of light used. "Regular" LCD TVs use  CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) lamps similar to fluorescent lights to illuminate the picture.  LED TV are LCDs that use LEDs to illuminate the picture instead.

There are some advantages to LED.  They last longer, can be dimmed so dark scenes can will be darker.  Also, if the TV has a grid of LEDs (called local dimming) it can dim certain areas of the picture to give a more dynamic look.
